I’m currently running CC on Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS and I’m having a problem opening a pcap file. The error message i’m getting is the following:
[Load] Can’t guess file format: unhandled file extension ‘pcap’
The pcap file was generated using velodyne lidar in the office just to test the file but CloudCompare generated this error message.
Let me know if anyone encountered this issue? If so, how did you solve the problem?
PCAP file wont open in CC
Re: PCAP file wont open in CC
What made you think CC could load PCAP files?

Re: PCAP file wont open in CC
Daniel,
Since CC is a Point Cloud viewer, why not? We collect data using Velodyne liar and I'm trying to visualize the 3D data using CC!
Is there a way where I can do this? Should I extract the data in a different format? Should I look into converting 3D data to excel for example!

Re: PCAP file wont open in CC
I mean, have you read somewhere that CC could load PCAP files? Otherwise that was a kind of "I'm lucky" attempt ;)
You should probably convert your clouds to another format (probably one among PLY, LAS, E57 or as a last option a simple text file).
