How to decimate a point cloud in Cloud Compare?

Trying to figure out how to decimate (thin) a point cloud in Cloud Compare... Haven't been able to find this function in the user documentation, but have seen it referenced here on the forums. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I think the method you are looking for is 'Edit > Subsample'

Do the points get deleted based on distance? Do two close points get averaged?

One option is to remove the points based on the distance indeed (SPATIAL). Points are never displaced (therefore, there's no averaging).
