Is is possible to smooth a section of points?

Post by rick »

For instance, I have this anomaly in a terrain scan, is there a tool that will allow me to select and smooth these points relative to their neighbors?

I've tried the MLS, SOR, and Noise filter on a segmentation of that area, but it always affects border points creating additional issues

Well, if the cloud is '2.5D', you could export the Z coordinates to a new SF, then smooth this SF (with the 'Edit > Scalar fields > Gaussian or Bilateral filters) and then convert this SF back to Z coordinates?

Also if it is 2.5 as said, if you call the rasterize tool and interpolate the voids and export the point cloud you may get what you're looking for.
