I usually manually correct the automatic segmentation before to fit the grains by ellipsoid. Doing so, I created (by mistake) a grain with only 2 points. When I try to fit the grains, CloudCompare crashes without any warning. Could it be possible to stop the process before the crash or to ignore grains that are too small ?
I use Cloud Compare V2.14.Alpha (installed 04/25).
