Hi,
There is a previous topic on this from 2019 (https://www.cloudcompare.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3555) but since the software has certainly changed a lot in 6 years, I'd thought I'd report this.
Seems like exactly the same bug, space mouse is working (can move the view in CloudCompare) but the settings in the 3DConnexion software menu won't affect CloudCompare. Changing speed, zoom direction or other settings have no effect in CC. Not sure if this is a problem with CC or 3DConnexion?
Interestingly this used to work fine a week ago, but after reinstalling windows I cannot get the space mouse to work with CC (works with other programs, such as Autodesk Inventor and ReCap). I've noticed sometimes the 3DConnexion driver is slow to initiate for the first time with a new software, but this is usually some minutes to hours until it pops up in Inventor for example, and it's been a week now, so I don't think this is whats happening with CC now.
The CC version is the same as I had installed with the old Windows installation (2.14 alpha), although the date seems to be newer (May 11) than in my previous installation. The system is a clean installation with new Windows 11 installation. 3DConnexion has had an update since I reinstalled Windows, neither 3DConnexion software version (10.9.4 / 10.9.5.693) seems to change the situation. Also tried reinstalling software in different order (CC first / 3DConnexion first), since this sometimes helps with Autodesk Inventor, but hasn't help here.

Hum, interesting.
I must admit that I haven't tested CC with a 3D mouse for a long time (I only have a small and old one that was given to me by 3dConnexion a long time ago so that I could support their device).
We probably use an old SDK, so maybe the support of their newest drivers is not complete. I'll try to see if I can upgrade it.

Great. If it so happens that you need a space mouse for testing, I could probably ship one to you (depending on where in the world you're located of course). Let me know how it goes.

So I looked into this today, and at least I can confirm that on my side the old 3D mouse (SpaceNavigator) still works, even with the latest 3DxWare 10.9.5.
And sadly, 3DConnexion has changed their SDK quite a lot. So it's not a simple upgrade of the SDK that needs to be done, but rewriting a lot of code... So this will take some time, and I don't know when I'll be able to do it personally (of course if someone is motivated, I won't object :-D).

Interesting. For me the Space mouse enterprise (my main hardware) doesn't work on my main PC, but my smaller Space mouse wireless works at least on my laptop (win 11 on both machines). Haven't tried swapping them around if they work then or not.
Had I any coding knowledge, I'd be happy to help. Unfortunately I cannot do much in that department.
