Calculation of the volume of a cylindrical object

Hello,
I am having an issue with calculating the volume of a scan of an irregular cylindrical object. I only have the lateral surface (without the bases) scanned. When I try to compute the volume from the mesh, the result is overestimated due to the “domes” that are automatically created at the ends.
If I remove these domes, the volume can no longer be computed because the mesh is no longer closed.
Could you please advise me on the correct approach in this situation?
Thank you for your help.
